Kebabs & Curries

Yeaterday at 4am and I was sleepless, i got up and literally scrubbed the kitchen sink and cleaned the toilets again. Still wide awake then i remembered, that darn ultimate ice blended from Coffee Bean WTH right! So I browse through my phone picture album and came across this spread that was sent to me earlier by a friend....

HELOooooooooooo from the other sideeeeee.....

This Spread says it all isn't it.
My 1st was with Aisyah with our total bill coming near to $200 for just a two persons meal LOL

That Briyani date with Aisyah that went a little overboard
Alhamdulillah & MasyaAllah by far this is one of the best briyani in SG and the most spicy too.
when we ordered it came in a pot which seems small and enough for 1 only. But its like a bottomless pot i tell you, i kept digging and like never ending we were hardly half way through.

It was our 1st so naturally we ordered 2 pots! Prawn and mutton.

Then the black pepper masala crab and the paneer butter curry.

The ambiance was nicely set with a great view of dome glass ceiling when you look up, " I feeling romantic" just short of the candle light and my BB to complete the picture.
We're at the rooftop btw.

But i got to admit the table settings were a little not organised and a bit all over, maybe because of the sudden heavy rain. Staff were extremely friendly and enthusiastic.
Minus side was, today it pours, cats and dogs with thunders, "ribut" seriously!
The restaurant is a partially open concept roof settings, the floors were a little wet. I saw they were very"On-the ball" trying their best to maintain the floor from flooding,
Toilets were clean thou there's one or two that were clogged with toilet papers. I like that they have bidet/hose.
However maybe due to the bad weather, i had a little small screaming episode with a crawling huge brown creature (cockroach) that kinda landed on my head. This happened just before the food arrived.
But ya we panicked and flick it off (syah did the flicking: my savior) it kinda landed on the floor and then this hero from next table charge in and stepped on it and the staff were quick to get rid of it.
No one was hurt and all is well. We cleaned up and shortly we were served with one of the most satisfying meal of the year. Alhamdulillah.
And my last meal there was with Nadya and Nora during last Ramadhan.

Tadkedar Dal
(Yellow lentils cooked till perfection tempered with cumins and red chillies),
(I'm loving it)

they boiled the lentils till its so super smooth to an almost creamy texture, unlike most yellow letils this one has some spice kick to it *not the pedas kind of spice* but a beautiful marriage of the non spicy kind, definately no jelak taste.

Hyderabadi Gosht Dum Biryani - My Favourite
The star of the night still is the briyani soo sedap lah.
I believe there must be 10001 ways to briyani because i still love the ones from victory, golden shoe, my MIL's version, my friend's mom Ani version, Shah Alam restaurant and my list continues

There can never be the best-est of the best. All different, but definitely one of the best!

till the next time Innsyallah

SEMPANG BEDOK at énak2 Special seafood horfun

    Special seafood horfun at énak2

They've replace the norm smooth horfun to the fried crispy ones. I originally thought it was an added ingredient, turns out as i dig further into my bowl i can't find any of that smooth yumminess. I cant say its not nice, it was delicious with no doubt.

The thinner ones have are airy light and crispy while the thicker ones got
    A chewy heavier texture.

This is just different, only for that moment i was looking forward for some smooth horfun underneath with that crispy noodles on top. I was GREEDY I want The Best of Both Worlds!!

LOL My bad :( maybe I should call for a special order the next time.
Maybe, it was mentioned in the menu and because I was SUPER HUNGRY I missed it. (maybe they fine print it...heh.. okok I was being over dramatic)

Definitely worth trying and if u do a must to eat with loads of cili padi and some light soya sauce & of course the pickled green chillies with a bit of the vinegar woooii berdesuutt! . .
    Semuan nak eh. Why not?

    Beef noodles part 2

    Orange Lantern @ Killiney

    Overall Rating ☆☆

I live the ambience quite, calm & relaxed

Every where I've gone either seems to crowded or too noisy.

Loving the hanging lanterns and warm Vietnamese deco.

    We ordered:
    1) special beef noodle soup B7,
    2) special spicy beef noodle soup H7,
    3) lemongrass tea with honey D17,
    4) viet sour plum with soda D19,
    5) grilled squid DN11,
    6) Creamy Mango Sago with pomelo D24

    Food reviews;

They serve condiments on the sides with a quad of a lime and a teaspoonful of cili padi, what i don't get was it also came with some sweet sauce like those u eat with yong tau fu and somewhat tasted like a maggie chilli sauce.

The serving is huge, I'm a big eater and i could not finish the whole bowl.
Well for a start the special beef soup was nothing fancy actually.  Overly rated with the lovely picture taken in the menu, we felt conned. The soup was actually quite blend. ☆

Between the 2, I preferred the spicy beef soup however my lunch date, she travelled quite a bit and she said it is nothing like those she tried at Vietnam and was actually very disappointed.

    For spicy beef noodles ☆☆

Next comes the grilled stuffed squid,  the meat was tough. Signs of over cooking and stuffings fell right off when we pick them up with our chopsticks ☆

Loving the drinks, not too sweet not too strong with the lemongrass,  i guess just right ☆☆

Sour plum soda must have been good too, my date didn't offer me some but she hurried to drown the whole thing and smiled with satisfaction ☆☆

Finally the grand finale of Creamy Mango sago with pomelo.  ☆☆☆ let the stars speaks for itself.

Sedaaap hoi! But i must say would give the full 5 stars if not for the lokek pomelo.

Will set to compare soon with their rivals soon

    Beef noodles part 1

    Overall Rating ☆☆☆☆

    Jemput Bismillah

Need i introduce this famous beef noodles?
No need la eh..  its been around since donkey years seyy.

I still wonder why they closed the ones at Tampines thou. Now they're  only available at Clementi central hawker (Block 449 Clementi Ave 3) and Seah im food center near habour front mrt station ( 424 Telok Blangah Rd).

Personally I prefers the ones at Seah Im. The beef portions here at clementi isn't consistent and less but due to convince sake I still often visit the Clementi's outlet.

From my observations most people just add the flakes and sour chilli sauce by the side fr dipping.
Which is not actuallt recommend. But hey no rules!

    How i have mine?
1 to 2 spoonful of the sour chilli,
    1/4 tsp of chilli flakes,
2 tsp sugar and just a tiny splash of fish sauce
all the above into the soup then give it a good toss.
but ya, you know me, I always have some extra by the side too in case not enough.

The broth by it self is delightful but i really like mine a little sour, hot and sweet...
Devine and so far still my most favourite
